Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the rationale of each IDDSI level from the SLP perspective, the scientific evidence that supports that rationale, and how to determine which level best meets the needs of individuals based on chewing and swallowing ability.
  2. Gain practical understanding from the RD perspective on the value of testing and why it’s necessary to test for each level.
  3. Increase understanding of training and competencies, including the need for ongoing training, the elements that comprise a good training program, and how to build a culture of safety and care through IDDSI.

About the Presenters

Margaret Roche, MS, RD, CSG, CDE, FAND is the founder of Roche Dietitians and a nationally recognized leader in nutrition consulting.  Maggie’s mission is to educate and empower those who nourish others.

Most recently Maggie has created IDDSI training programs that simplify IDDSI implementation, improve food quality and promote safety.  She has trained thousands on the IDDSI Framework and Testing Methods.

Maggie is a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in clinical nutrition.  She has advanced credentials as a certified diabetes educator, is board certified as a specialist in gerontological nutrition, and is distinguished as a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
